Signature A Cappella was established in 2007 as a female and non-binary-identifying a cappella group at the University of California, Los Angeles. We have been proud to perform at high-profile events including the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (Best Arrangement and Best Vocal Percussion Awards), the California A Cappella Festival, and the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival. We have also performed in UCLA’s Spring Sing multiple times, and in 2015 won the UCLA Prytanean Alumni Award for Best A Cappella Performance!
As UCLA students, Signature A Cappella is passionate about bringing our sound to campus and performing for our peers at fairs, festivals, community service events, farmers’ markets and UCLA sporting events, where we can often be found singing the National Anthem. Additionally, we love sharing our music with the Los Angeles community and have a full repertoire of songs that are perfect for everything from birthday parties to weddings.
We are proud to have recorded two albums, Take Flight (2010) and A Little Louder (2014). Our debut album was named one of the top ten female collegiate albums released in 2010 by the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America (CASA). Other fantastic reception for Take Flight included a CASA Recording Award nomination for Best Female Collegiate Soloist (“Ain’t No Other Man) and a feature on Voices Only’s 2011 collegiate a cappella compilation album (“Party in the USA”).
We maintain a strong social media presence on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube; these platforms have been integral to our sense of unity and our ability to share music during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have also used them to take action in support of Black lives: in the summer of 2020, we were able to use our online presence to raise $7,776 for Unicorn Riot by posting commissioned music in partnership with a corporate matching program.
Signature A Cappella provides each member with a home away from home. We support, encourage and empower each other. We laugh and celebrate our triumphs together; we cry and lean on each other through our challenges. Through it all, we sing as one. We are forever family.
